SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's golf team opens its 2017-18 season on Monday and Tuesday while the Cougar volleyball squad hosts its first CCAA home matches of the season this weekend. The CSUSM soccer teams play under the lights at Cal State L.A. on Friday night.

CHICO STATE
  • Chico State leads the all-time series at 2-1 against CSUSM.
  • In their last meeting, the Cougars fell in three sets at Chico in 2016. CSUSM split the 2015 series with each team winning on the road.
  • The Wildcats split their CCAA opening weekend, falling in four sets to Cal State L.A. last Friday before rebounding with a 3-1 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills the following night.
 
STANISLAUS STATE
  • CSUSM holds a 2-1 all-time series lead over Stanislaus State.  
  • The Cougars were victorious over the Warriors last year, pulling off a 3-1 set win in Turlock. In 2015, CSUSM went the distance with five sets in each meeting against Stanislaus State with both teams earning the home win.  
  • Stanislaus State is still in search of its first match victory of 2017. The Warriors began the season at the Concordia Labor Day Invitational, suffering four consecutive sweeps. Last weekend, Stanislaus State dropped back-to-back four-set matches to CSUDH and CSULA.
 
PREVIOUS WEEK 
  • CSUSM opened conference play at UC San Diego last weekend, dropping a four-set match to the Tritons with two of the sets going past the 25-point mark.
  • The Cougars rank No. 2 in the CCAA statistics in digs thanks in large part to freshman libero Grecia Cordero-Barr who leads the conference with a 5.10 dig average per set.
  • Junior Faith Fortuné got hot in the third set of Saturday's match, tallying seven kills. She finished the night with nine kills and eight total blocks including three solo block.

CAL STATE L.A.
  • The all-time series between CSUSM and CSULA is tied at 2-2.
  • In their last meeting, the Cougars recorded a 2-1 victory in overtime against CSULA after then-senior Yeya Millan converted a penalty kick in the 99th minute.
  • The Golden Eagles collected four points in their CCAA opening weekend after defeating Cal State San Bernardino (2-0) and tying with Cal Poly Pomona (2-2).  

PREVIOUS WEEK
  • CSUSM nabbed six points in its first weekend of conference action, registering victories over Stanislaus State (1-0) and Chico State (2-1).
  • Senior Kayla Anderson tallied four points on the weekend with a goal and two assists.
  • Junior Megan Pfrunder scored her second goal of the season with the game winner against Stanislaus State. Senior Megan Randig notched her first goal of 2017 in the first half Sunday's Chico State game.

CAL STATE L.A.
  • The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series vs. the Cougars, 3-1.
  • In their last meeting, CSUSM pulled off an upset over No. 12 CSULA last season. Sophomore Eric Polland fired home his first collegiate goal in the 12th minute to provide the game winner.
  • The Golden Eagles opened the season with five consecutive wins before falling 2-1 on Sunday at No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona.

PREVIOUS WEEK
  • CSUSM earned one point after recording a scoreless tie against Stanislaus State on Friday before falling 3-0 to Chico State on Sunday
