The score remained 1-0 until the 48th minute when a costly Wildcat foul allowed Anderson to line up and drill a PK goal and add to the Cougar lead, making it 2-0.
The Wildcats would respond though with a goal from freshman Lauren Madero, her first collegiate goal to cut CSUSM's lead in half in the 67th minute. The Cougars would hold off a strong surge from Chico State and hang on for a 2-1 win.
