POMONA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team dropped a 28-12 decision to Cal Poly Pomona in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action on Friday afternoon at Scolinos Field.
The Cougars fall to 15-24 overall and 5-22 in conference play. The Broncos improve to 22-18 on the year and 18-11 in the CCAA

J.T. Sole went 3-for-4 with four RBIs including a three-run homer, his first of the season. Junior third baseman
Andy Garretson, sophomore designated hitter
Isaias Torres and freshman second baseman
Reed LaBar each tacked on two hits in the contest for the Cougars.
The Cougars trailed 16-0 before getting on the board with five runs on four hits, a walk and a hit batter in the fifth inning.
CSUSM made it a 16-10 ballgame with five more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Freshman outfielder
Griffin Teisher drew a walk to lead off the frame and Garretson followed with a double down the right field line to put runners on second and third. Sole's homer was a no-doubter off the bat that was driven to deep left center and cleared the fence. The final two runs of the inning came on a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch.
CPP's Brice Graddy's RBI double scored Sean Greback who reached on a singled down the right line to make it 17-10.
The Cougars closed the gap to five runs with two in the top of the eighth. Sole crushed a one-out double down the right line and Torres followed with a single. Back-to-back singles by freshman first baseman
Kevin Britt and LaBar plated Sole and Torres to make it 17-12.
The Broncos scored 11 runs on six hits, five hit batters, two walks and a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Cody Martin led the Bronco offense with a 5-for-5 performance at the plate. Daniel Pitts recorded his sixth home run of the season, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs on the day.
Junior
Alex Wall (2-5) took the loss after giving up nine runs in 2.2 innings. Jeremy Taylor notched the win for the Broncos after going six innings and relinquishing five runs on eight hits.
The CSUSM-CPP series continues on Saturday, April 22 with a doubleheader beginning at noon at CSUSM Baseball Field.
