SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team took down Cal State Monterey Bay by a final score of 77-64 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Thursday at The Sports Center.
The Cougars win their fourth straight game and improve to 17-8 overall and 11-6 in conference play. The Otters drop to 3-21 overall and 1-17 in the CCAA.
CSUSM shot 51.7 percent (30-58) from the floor, 38.9 percent (7-18) from behind the arc and 90.9 percent (10-11) from the charity stripe. CSUMB went 39.3 percent (24-61) on field goals, 33.3 percent (9-27) on 3-pointers and 46.7 percent (7-15) on free throws. The Cougars were outrebounded 39-30, including 16-5 on the offensive glass.

Joe Boyd collected his 13th double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Junior guard
Josh Spiers scored a game-high 23 points. Senior guard
Dayton Boddie pitched in 15 points. Kevin Warren was the Otters' leading scorer with 17 points.
The Cougars took a 16-6 lead after a 3-pointer from senior guard
Tyson Kygar to start the game. CSUMB responded with an 11-0 run to take a 17-16 advantage. The Cougars quickly took back the lead after a Boddie layup and did not trail for the rest of the game. CSUSM went into halftime up, 36-26.
The Cougars grabbed their biggest lead of the game, 60-41, after a jumper from junior guard
Brian Wright. The Otters then went on a 17-7 run to cut the margin to nine, 67-58. CSUSM responded with an 8-0 run of its own to bring the advantage back to double digits. The Cougars ultimately prevailed by 13 points.
CSUSM will play its final home game of the season against Cal State East Bay for Senior Night on Saturday, Feb. 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. or 20 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game. Prior to the start of the contest, CSUSM will honor its five seniors, Boddie, Kygar,
