SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team defeated Concordia (Ore.), 73-65, on Friday night at The Sports Center.
CSUSM held the Cavaliers to 39.3 percent from the field (26-of-61) and just 6-of-18 (33.3 percent) from the perimeter. The Cougars forced 14 total turnovers on the night, finishing with 10 steals.
The Cougars have won three straight games and improve to 4-1 on the season while CU drops to 4-2.
Senior
Ethan Alvano finished with a team-high 19 points and nine assists in 34 minutes. It was Alvano's deep 3-pointer with just 42 seconds left and a timely block immediately following the field goal that helped secure the win for CSUSM.
CU cut the Cougars lead to as small as two points on a made free-throw from Taylor Harris with 1:26 left to play in the second half.
The Cavaliers were led offensively from Christopher Edward who finished with 21 points and 19 rebounds.
CSUSM edged CU in the rebound battle, 43-41, including 11 offensive rebounds.
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow as they welcome San Diego Christian to The Sports Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
