SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team hosts Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay this weekend. The CSUSM men's and women's soccer teams travel to CSUMB and CSUEB to conclude its 2017 regular season schedule.

CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY
  • CSUSM is 2-0 in the all-time series against the Otters.
  • In the last meeting, the Cougars took down the Otters 3-1 in Seaside on Oct. 7, 2016. CSUSM scored three unanswered goals from Lauren Perry, Elizabeth Maas and Yeya Millan.
  • CSUMB has lost two straight matches and five of their last six contests. They have been outscored 6-1 in their last two matches.
  • Hannah Kind and Haley Nishimoto lead the team with four goals apiece. Ashlee Cortez is tied for third in the CCAA with four assists.
 
CAL STATE EAST BAY
  • The Cougars hold a 2-1 all-time series lead over CSUEB.
  • CSUSM came out on top 1-0 in their last meeting on Oct. 21, 2016 in Hayward. Meghan Randig scored the eventual game-winner in the 77th minute.
  • The Pioneers come in just 1-8-1 in their last 10 matches. They are coming off a 4-0 loss at Stanislaus State.
  • Aulani Fernandez leads the team in goals (4) and points (8) this season. Lauren McDougal leads the team with three assists.
 
CSUSM BREAKDOWN
  • The Cougars are coming off a 1-0 road win over Humboldt state and a 0-0 draw against No. 8 UC San Diego.
  • CSUSM concluded its home regular season schedule with a 4-2-1 overall record.
  • Seniors Kayla Anderson and Meghan Randig lead the team with three goals each. Anderson's four assists ranks her tied for third in the CCAA.
  • The Cougars are tied for second in the CCAA in fewest goals allowed, with nine.

  • CSUSM has never lost to the Otters witha 3-0 all-time series lead over CSUMB.
  • In the last meeting, the Cougars came out on top 2-1 on Oct. 7, 2016 in Seaside. Richard Flores put the Cougars ahead 1-0 before Parker Hodges netted the eventual game-winner in the 76th minute.
  • Adrian Rebollar and Makenna Pendleton lead the team in goals with three each.
  • The Otters are 0-4-1 in their last five matches and are coming off a 3-0 loss at Chico State.
 
CAL STATE EAST BAY
  • CSUSM is 0-1-1 all-time against CSUEB.
  • These two teams last met on Oct. 21, 2016 in Hayward with the match ending in a scoreless draw.
  •  The Pioneers are just 1-8-1 in their last 10 matches. They are coming off a 3-2 loss at Stanislaus State.
  • Evan Sanchez leads the team in goals (6) and points (13) this season. Goalkeeper Carlos Moreno ranks first in the CCAA in saves per game at 5.10
 
CSUSM BREAKDOWN
  • CSUSM is coming off a 3-2 loss to No.19 UC San Diego in a nonconference match in their only match last week.
  • Both David Martin (1) and Victor Gonzalez (4) scored goals in the match. Gonzalez leads the team in goals scored this season.
  • The Cougars rank 5th in the CCAA in saves (64).

CAL STATE EAST BAY
  • CSUSM is 1-2 in the all-time series against CSUEB
  • The Pioneers dropped both of their home matches last weekend, falling to Cal State L.A. (0-3) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (1-3).
  • CSUEB is No. 2 in the CCAA rankings, holding opponents to a 1.56 blocks per set average.
 
CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY
  • The all-time series between the Cougars and Otters is tied at 1-1.  
  • Both meetings between these two teams have gone five sets with the Cougars coming out victorious last season. Madi Anderson and Maddy Newcombe both tallied 16 kills in the win.
  • The Otters are on a three-match losing streak, dropping five-set heartbreakers to Chico State and Cal State Dominguez Hills before falling in four-sets to Cal State L.A.
  • CSUMB leads the CCAA with a .260 hitting percentage with Samantha Brennan (.349), Amber Tygart (.339) and Chandler McKean (.300) all ranked in the top 10.

CSUSM BREAKDOWN
  • CSUSM picked up its second big win in two weeks with a four-set victory at Sonoma State on Saturday night, giving the Seawolves their first home loss since Oct. 11, 2016. The Cougars dropped three straight sets on Friday night at San Francisco State.
  • The Cougars moved into No. 1 in the CCAA with a 2.36 block per set average. Junior middle blocker Faith Fortuné is CCAA's block leader with a 1.26 block per set average.
  • Freshman libero Grecia Cordero-Barr continues to lead the CCAA in digs, averaging 4.92 per set.
  • CSUSM is holding its opponents to a .154 hitting percentage, second best in the CCAA.
