SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The men's and women's cross country teams are competing in the CCAA Championships in Ceres, Calif. on Saturday, Oct. 21. The CSUSM men's and women's soccer teams will host its Senior Days in nonconference matches against cross-county rival UC San Diego.

- The CSUSM cross country teams will be the first programs to officially compete and place in a CCAA conference event in school history.

LAST OUTING
- CSUSM hosted the 10th annual Cougar Challenge two weeks ago, dominating the competition
- Rodriguez defended her Cougar Challenge title, crossing the line with the exact same time she got in 2016 (17:30.0). CSUSM collected 18 points, taking five of the top six spots.
- On the men's side, CSUSM went 1-2-3 with junior Steven Terris leading the charge with the individual title with a time of 25:35.0.
USTFCCAA RANKINGS
- The women's team enters its postseason ranked No. 12 in the USTFCCCA Top-25 national rankings.
- The Cougars made their national ranking debut in the preseason poll at No. 22 and were No. 9 for two consecutive weeks.

SAN FRANCISCO STATE
- CSUSM's sweep against the Gators in its single meeting last season gave the Cougars their first win over SF State in program history.
- Due to the wildfires up north, the Gators were forced to reschedule their Oct. 13th match against Humboldt State to Nov. 5.
- SF State is sixth in the CCAA north division standings.
SONOMA STATE
- Last season, the Cougars also collected their first win over Sonoma State in program history, defeating the Seawolves in four sets in The Sports Center.
- With the unhealthy air quality levels and continuing threat of wildfires in Sonoma County, SSU cancelled all events last week.
- The Seawolves are on top of the CCAA North Division standings with their lone loss coming against Cal State East Bay.
CSUSM BREAKDOWN
- CSUSM recorded its biggest win in program history to-date with a five-set thriller against Cal State San Bernardino last Friday. The Cougars fell in a heartbreaker the following night to Cal Poly Pomona.
- The Cougars moved into No. 1 in the CCAA with a 2.30 block per set average after setting a program single game record of 19 total blocks against CSUSB. Junior middle blocker Faith Fortuné is CCAA's block leader with a 1.29 block per set average.
- Freshman libero Grecia Cordero-Barr continues to lead the CCAA in digs, averaging 4.93 per set.
