SAN MARCOS, Calif. - Every Cougar that saw action scored as the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team defeated West Coast Baptist by a final score of 93-68 in a non-conference matchup, Tuesday night at The Sports Center.
With the win, CSUSM improves to 14-8 overall. The Eagles drop to 6-18.
The Cougars shot 44.6 percent (33-74) from the floor, 40 percent (10-25) from behind the arc and 77.3 percent (17-22) from the charity stripe. West Coast Baptist went 29.9 percent (23-77) on field goals, 27.5 percent (11-40) in 3-pointers and 73.3 percent (11-15) on free throws. CSUSM was outrebounded 52-24, including 24-13 on the offensive glass. The Cougars won the turnover battle 17-5.

Ethan Alvano pitched in 16, 13 and 10 points, respectively. Alvano dished out a game-high 10 assists. Imaan Vicente led West Coast Baptist with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Nicholas Corl also recorded a double-double for the Eagles with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Cougars got off to a slow start as West Coast Baptist went up 11-6, their biggest lead of the game, three and a half minutes into the contest. CSUSM responded with a 9-0 run to lead 15-11. The Cougars kept increasing the gap from there and led 48-29 at halftime.
CSUSM widened the margin even more in the second half. A Koeplin layup with 4:35 left in the contest gave the Cougars their biggest lead of the game, 86-58. CSUSM ultimately prevailed by 25 points, 93-68.
The Cougars will have eight days off before returning to conference play. CSUSM will travel to Stanislaus State on Thursday, Feb. 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
