SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team, winners of five straight, will play two conference games on the road this week. The Cougars will make the short trip to crosstown rival and 18th-ranked UC San Diego on Thursday, Jan. 19. CSUSM will have a day off before facing Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Jan. 21. Both games are set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

THE COUGARS AT A GLANCE
- CSUSM defeated Cal Poly Pomona 88-76 at home thanks to 11 3-pointers made. Junior guard Josh Spiers led the Cougars with a game-high 30 points and seven rebounds as he knocked down five treys and went 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.
- CSUSM took down Humboldt State 95-90 in overtime. Down 81-74 with two and a half minutes left in regulation, the Cougars went on a 9-2 run to force extras and outscored the Lumberjacks 12-7 in overtime to preserve the win.
- CSUSM is second in the CCAA in scoring offense, averaging 80.5 points per game. The Cougars lead the conference in field goal percentage at .493 and three-point percentage at .441.
- Junior forward Joe Boyd leads the conference in rebounding at 10.4 per game. He is second in field goal percentage, nailing 59.1 percent (101-171) of his shots.
- Senior guard Tyson Kygar ranks first in the CCAA with a .531 3-point field goal percentage. He leads the CCAA with 3.1 treys per game.
- Junior guard Josh Spiers is second in the conference with a .484 3-point field goal percentage and fourth in 3-pointers made with 2.6 per game.
- Junior guard Ethan Alvano ranks second in the CCAA in scoring at 16.8 points per game. Alvano is second in the conference in assists, averaging 4.7 per game and second in steals at 2.2 per game.

- UC San Diego is the 18th-ranked team in the country. The Tritons currently lead the CCAA with a 9-1 conference record.
- Adam Klie leads UCSD in points, rebounds and assists at 14.6, 6.9 and 4.6 per game, respectively. Chris Hansen averages 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and Christian Oshita puts up 10.1 points per game.
- The Tritons are sixth in the nation in scoring defense, holding their opponents to just 63.2 points per game.
- UCSD head coach Eric Olen is in his fourth season at the helm.
CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO BREAKDOWN
- Cal State San Bernardino is 10th in the conference standings with a 2-6 record in the CCAA. The Coyotes will play SF State on Wednesday before taking on CSUSM on Saturday.
- Khleem Perkins and Everett Turner are the CSUSB's leading scorers averaging 12.3 and 11.5 points per game, respectively.
- The Cougars defeated the Coyotes 70-55 on Nov. 30 thanks to a 42-16 lead after the first half.
- CSUSB is led by 15th year head coach Jeff Oliver.
