Unbeaten CSUSM, No. 11 UCSD to Clash in CCAA Opener

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team will learn if its unblemished record is the real deal this week, as the Cougars start California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play at home against No. 11 UC San Diego and Chico State.

Cougar Notes
· CSUSM took down Fresno Pacific, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon via goals by Amy Wilson and Elizabeth Maass.
· CSUSM is unbeaten over its first five matches for the first time since 2013.
· The Cougars are the only unbeaten squad left in the CCAA.
· UCSD and CSUSM are the only two teams who have not played a conference match yet.

Cross-county Rivalry Brewing?
· CSUSM is 0-2-1 all-time against the Tritons.
· The Cougars played UCSD twice last year, falling 2-0 in both meetings.
· Following back-to-back losses to No. 7 Colorado School of Mines and No. 17 Western Washington, the Tritons bounced back with a road OT win over Central Washington last Friday.
· UCSD's Katie O'Laughlin leads the CCAA with six goals and 12 points this season.

Chico's State
· CSUSM is 0-1-0 all-time against CSUC.
· The Cougars fell 1-0 in the team's only meeting last season on Oct. 25, 2015.
· The Wildcats opened CCAA play last week with back-to-back road losses at San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay.
· Prior to its first two loss of the season, Chico had started the year 4-0-1.

The Renneisen File
Head coach Bobby Renneisen enters his third year in charge of the women's program and 11th overall at CSUSM. Between 2006-13, Renneisen was an assistant/associate head coach for both the men's and women's teams. As the women's head coach, Renneisen is 16-12-13 (.549) during his three years.
