SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team will take a break from California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play and will host Life Pacific on Wednesday, Dec. 7 before a road matchup with Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, Nov. 10.

THE COUGARS AT A GLANCE
- The Cougars went 1-1 last week.
- CSUSM defeated Cal State San Bernardino by a final score of 70-55 aided by a strong first half. The Cougars led by 26 points at halftime, 42-16, after limiting the Coyotes to 21.2 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes. CSUSB slowly crawled back into the game, cutting the margin to as much as 10 points. CSUSM closed the game strong and prevailed by 15 points.
- CSUSM dropped its fourth annual Homecoming Game to Chico State, 80-68. The Wildcats made nearly half of their shots, going 29-for-60, and finished 42.3 percent (11-26) on three-pointers. The Cougars lost the rebound battle 38-30, including 11-7 on the offensive end. CSUSM cut the deficit to nine points on three different occasions in the second half, but the margin was ultimately insurmountable.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
- The Cougars are 3-1 in their brand new home, The Sports Center.
- CSUSM was 47-9 (.839) from 2011-16 when the Cougars called MiraCosta College "home".
LIFE PACIFIC BREAKDOWN
- LPU is 4-4 this season.
- The Warriors are led by 21st year head coach Tim Cook.
- CSUSM defeated LPU by a final score of 79-49 at home (MiraCosta College) last season in the only contest between the two teams.
CAL POLY POMONA BREAKDOWN
- Cal Poly Pomona is 0-2 in conference play, 2-4 overall.
- The Bronco duo of Jordan Ogundiran, Jeremy Dennis and William Christmas average 15.2, 12.2 and 10.5 points per game.
- CPP averages 10.17 steals per game, second most in the CCAA.
- Bronco head coach Greg Kamansky is in his 17th year at the helm.
- The Cougars are 0-1 all-time against the Broncos. CSUSM suffered a 64-54 road loss in last season's final game.
COACH FOSTER FILE
B.J. Foster was named interim head men's basketball coach in the summer of 2016 after three years as the head assistant (2013-16). Foster is 5-3 in his career as a interim head coach.
