SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team will travel to and play California Baptist, the 10th-ranked team in the nation, in a non-conference matchup on Monday, Dec. 19. The Cougars will then take a holiday break before hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday, Dec. 29.

THE COUGARS AT A GLANCE
- Junior forward Joe Boyd is fifth in the nation in double-doubles with five. Boyd is also fifth in the nation in defensive rebounds, averaging 8.5 per game.
- Senior guard Tyson Kygar ranks fifth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, nailing 56.6 percent of his shots from behind the arc.
- The Cougars defeated Life Pacific at home, 83-52, on Wednesday, Dec. 7. CSUSM had four players in double figures, led by Cody Johnson's 17 points and 11 rebounds.
- The Cougars took down Cal Poly Pomona, 83-64, in a road matchup on Saturday, Dec. 10. CSUSM shot 56.9 percent from the field and went mad from downtown with a 60.9 percent (14-23) clip from behind the arc. Kygar went 6-for-7 and Josh Spiers hit 5-of-10 from three-point range for the Cougars.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
- The Cougars are 4-1 in their brand new home, The Sports Center.
- CSUSM was 47-9 (.839) from 2011-16 when the Cougars called MiraCosta College "home".
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST BREAKDOWN
- CBU is ranked 10th in the nation with an 8-1 record. Its only loss was at home to Dixie State, 75-71.
- Guard Michael Smith is amongst the best scorers in the nation averaging 25.3 points per game, good for fourth in all of NCAA Division II. Smith also draws a lot of contact, averaging 9.4 free throw attempts per game.
- Center Kalidou Diouf ranks second in the nation in field-goal percentage at 76.3 percent. Diouf is CBU's second leading scorer with 19.1 points per game.
- The Lancers are led by fourth year head coach Rick Croy.
- CSUSM is 0-2 all-time against CBU.
COACH FOSTER FILE
B.J. Foster was named interim head men's basketball coach in the summer of 2016 after three years as the head assistant (2013-16). Foster is 7-3 in his career as a interim head coach.
