THE COUGARS AT A GLANCE
- CSUSM went 2-0 last week
- The Cougars cruised to a 93-68 victory over University of Redlands last Tuesday in their first-ever game in The Sports Center. Junior Joe Boyd scored a game-high 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting and Josh Spiers hit five 3-pointers on his way to a 17-point night.
- CSUSM took care of business at Azusa Pacific on Saturday night, tallying a 75-66 win over the 2015-16 PacWest regular season champion.
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
- The Cougars are 1-0 in their brand new home, The Sports Center.
- CSUSM was 47-9 (.839) from 2011-16 when the Cougars called MiraCosta College "home".
SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN BREAKDOWN
- CSUSM holds a 3-1 edge over the Hawks in the all-time series.
- The Cougars halted a SDC comeback in the last meeting between the two teams. CSUSM led by as many as 27 with 16:23 remaining but a charge by the Hawks cut it to just two points with :38 on the clock. Back-to-back made free throws by Declan Daly clinched the win for CSUSM at 69-65.
- SDC recorded a 73-62 victory over NCAA Division III Chapman last Saturday. Caleb Singleton scored a season-best 18 points after going 7-of-12 from the floor.
- The Hawks were picked to finish last in NAIA's Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) preseason poll.
RUNDOWN OF HUMBOLDT STATE
- CSUSM is 1-1 overall against the Lumberjacks.
- The Cougars' first-ever California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) game was against HSU with CSUSM coming out on top with a 84-79 overtime win.
- The teams once again had to go extra time in their next meeting, with the Lumberjacks taking the victory at 97-91 over the Cougars.
- HSU was picked to finish third in the CCAA Preseason Coaches' Poll

B.J. Foster was named interim head men's basketball coach in the summer of 2016 after three years as the head assistant (2013-16). Foster is 1-1 in his career as a interim head coach.
