CSUSM Goes 1-1 Opening Week
· After falling to Biola in their season opener, the Cougars bounced back with a thorough 78-65 victory over the defending Co-PacWest champion, Concordia (Calif.).
· CSUSM's 60.5-percent (26-of-43) shooting clip on Saturday vs. CUI was its highest team shooting percentage since Feb. 7, 2013, when CSUSM shot 60.6-percent (43-of-71) in a 107-70 victory over Holy Names.
·
Ethan Alvano's 32 points vs. CUI were the sixth-most in a single game in team history.
· CSUSM led by as many as eight in the second half on Friday vs. Biola.
Home is Where the Heart Is
· The Cougars were 47-9 (.839) at "home" over the past five seasons playing in MiraCosta College.
CSUSM vs. Redlands
· CSUSM and Redlands have never met.
· Redlands doubled their win total from 2014-15 with a 14-13 record and 9-7 mark in conference play during 2015-16.
· The Bulldogs are a NCAA Division III program which plays in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
Cougars vs. Cougars
· CSUSM is 0-4 all-time vs. Azusa Pacific.
· CSUSM fell to APU 72-68 last season, snapping CSUSM's 26-game home winning streak.
· APU won the PacWest regular season championship in 2015-16.
Coach Foster File
B.J. Foster was named interim head men's basketball coach in the summer of 2016 after three years as the head assistant (2013-16). Foster is 1-1 in his career as a interim head coach.
