IRVINE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team fell in its season opener 65-61 to Biola on Friday afternoon in non-conference play at CU Arena.
CSUSM (0-1) led by as many as eight in the second half, but a 12-0 spurt over a three-minute span from Biola (5-0) handed the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish with 6:37 to go.
Josh Spiers matched a CSUSM record with seven 3-pointers (7-of-10) and a team-high 24 points.
Dayton Boddie added 12 on 6-of-7 shooting and
Joe Boyd corralled a game-high 10 boards.
BU's Dakari Archer stole the show, scoring a career-high 37 for the Eagles. No other player had more than eight for BU.
CSUSM turns around to play Concordia (Calif.) tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in Irvine.
