CSUSM Ties SFSU, Secures First 4-point CCAA Road Trip

SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team walked away with a point following a 1-1 (2 OT) tie against San Francisco State in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Sunday afternoon in Cox Stadium.

Following Friday's victory over Cal State Monterey Bay, CSUSM secured four points on its first CCAA road trip of the season. Furthermore, it marks the first time in program history in which the Cougars have secured four points in a single CCAA road trip.

CSUSM moves to 4-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in CCAA play. The Cougars sit in eighth place in the CCAA standings with 10 points, having two matches in hand compared to the majority of their conference foes.

SFSU moves to 6-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 CCAA.

Richard Leon put the Gators ahead in the ninth minute with his fifth goal of the season.

Zach Olow provided the equalizer for the Cougars, heading in Parker Hodges' cross into the right top-corner in the 63rd. It was Olow's second goal of 2016 and first since Sept. 12.

Hodges, who scored the game-winner Friday against Cal State Monterey Bay, has tallied five points (2 G, 1 A) over his last four matches.

CSUSM will be back at home for the final time in 2016 with two more CCAA matches against Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A. on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
