Home Stand to Start 2016The Cougars are in the middle of a six-game home stand. CSUSM resumes CCAA play next week with a rematch against Chico State on Jan.21, which took down the Cougars on Dec. 12 on a brutal buzzer-beater. The home stand ends on Jan. 23 against Stanislaus State.
The Week That WasThe Cougars trailed at half time of both games last week, but rallied to take down Cal State East Bay, 71-60, and Cal State Monterey Bay, 69-66. CSUSM has won four games in a row and is riding its longest winning streak this season.
Akachi Okugo hit several big shots down the stretch in the win over Cal State East Bay and matched
Darnell Taylor with a team-high 19 points. On Saturday against CSUSM, Taylor put in the go-ahead layup with 15 seconds remaining and then got a key steal to seal the win. CSUSM moved into a tie for third in the CCAA standings with the victory and remains a game out of first place.
