SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team conceded a golden goal in the 103
rd minute in its 1-0 loss to Stanislaus State in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Friday afternoon at The Cougar Den.
The loss drops the Cougars to 1-3-3 overall and 1-1-1 in CCAA competition. Stan State improves to 6-1-1 overall, 2-0-1 CCAA.
Jordan Moineau scored the game winner by finishing a Stan State corner kick. The service to the back post bounced inside the area and wasn't cleared out after a flurry of attempts, and Moineau was at the back post to slot it home.
The overtime game was the Cougars' fifth in their seven matches this season. CSUSM is 0-2-3 in matches that go to extra time.
Allie Jara made a career-high nine saves to keep the Warriors off the board the best she could.
The Cougars best chances to score came early in the second half.
Paulina Good attempted a volley that missed the left post, and
Natalie Lara had a go on a bouncing ball that sailed just above the bar.
Sarah Campbell took a solid rip from above the arc, but Chelsea Lewandowski was able to palm it away from danger.
The Cougars will turn around to face Cal State East Bay on Sunday at 11:30 AM at The Cougar Den.
