LA JOLLA, Calif. – Another Cougar is heading to nationals after a successful day of competition for the Cal State San Marcos track & field teams at the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego on Saturday.
Melissa Olmos leaped an "A" standard 1.68m in the high jump to become the 23
rd student-athlete to qualify for the NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Olmos' mark was both a personal-best and won the open division competition.
Brittany Hollie continues to excel, recording another "A" standard time of 14.65 in the 100-meter hurdles.
Justin Washington placed fourth in the 800m and registered a PR, besting his previous mark with a time of 1:51.39. It was Washington's second "A" standard time in the 800m this season.

Kamarria Rehn, Hollie and
Michelle Fekete posted a time of 49.13, just .81 seconds shy of the "B" standard mark.
Kamarria Rehn set a new personal-best in the long jump with a mark of 5.22m.
Caesar Castillo registered a PR in the 1500m with a time of 4:05.17.
Jamal Brewer also recorded a PR, leaping 6.69m in the long jump and besting his previous mark by 1.04m.
Michael Anastasia won his triple jump heat with a leap of 13.92m.
Next up for the Cougars will be the adidas/
Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine's
Anteater Stadium on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2. The competition is the namesake event for Cal State San Marcos head coach
Steve Scott. Coach Scott was a six-time All-American in cross country and track for the Anteaters and still holds the school record in the 1500m with a time of 3:36.1 set in 1977.
