Vanguard Preview
All-time vs. VU: 2-3

Last Meeting: W, 73-71 (Nov. 22, 2014); Then-No. 3 CSUSM upset then-No. 1 Vanguard in the Cougars' annual CSUSM Homecoming Game, 73-71, earlier this season. The Cougars used a 21-6 run to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit, but VU hit a trio of 3-pointers late in the game to pull within two. Chris Gorman had an open look from the top of the key to win it for VU, but it clanged off the back iron and the Cougars escaped with a two-point victory.
 
VU Breakdown: The Lions have won three out of their last five, with both losses coming at home to then-No. 7 Arizona Christian and then-No. 5 Hope International. VU is currently in fifth place in the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC).

A.I.I. Conference Championship
The Cougars will travel to the campus of West Virginia Tech in Montgomery, W. Va., Mar. 6-8 for the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Championship. The winner of the six-team tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships in Kansas City, Mo., Mar. 18-24. CSUSM is the defending A.I.I. Conference champion and is looking to make its third-straight trip to the NAIA National Championships.
