POMONA, Calif. – Six student-athletes from the Cal State San Marcos women's indoor track & field team posted NAIA "A" standard qualifying times for the NAIA Indoor National Championships while competing in the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All-Comers Invite on Saturday at Strehle Track.
Natalie Rodriguez (10:12.44),
Kate Bouvatte (10:12.65),
Bailey Smith (10:27.32) and
Terra McGinnis (10:29.28) all ran the 3000m under the "A" standard of 10:30. McGinnis had already qualified in the event during last week's Soka Invite, but now she will have three teammates to run with come national championship time. Moreover, it will provide CSUSM more chances to score team points during the event.
In addition,
Charlotte Kuzminsky (2:55.97) and
Cristen Lane (2:58.04) qualified comfortably under the "A" standard of 3:02 in the 1000m. Amanda Solorio finished in 3:08.79.
Kuzminsky has now qualified for nationals in three events: the 1000m, the distance medley relay, and the 4x800m relay.
CSUSM now has 10 different student-athletes qualified for nationals in four different events.
Tina Girolamo and
Salena Gallardo ran the 1000m in 3:03.91 and 3:06.78 on Saturday, respectively.
Michelle Fekete registered 10.19m in the triple jump and 4.68 in the long jump.
Melissa Olmos leapt 1.55m in the high jump.
In the 400m,
Ayana White ran 1:02.14 and
Anasazi Nunez followed with a 1:03.28.
Kamarria Rehn posted 12.76 in the 100m dash.
Brittany Hollie and
Jessica Toliver competed in the hurdles. Hollie ran 15.07 in the 100h and Toliver came in at 1:07.61 in the 400h.
CSUSM student-athletes will have one more opportunity to qualify for Mar. 5-7's NAIA Indoor National Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The Cougars will take to the track next Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Rossi Relays.
