ROCKLIN, Calif. – Blake Nash and
Julian Camper recorded double-doubles in the No. 4 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team's 75-68 victory at William Jessup on Thursday night.
Nash led the way with game highs of 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Camper tallied 21 points and 11 boards.
The Cougars improve to 25-3 overall with one regular season game remaining at NAIA national champion Vanguard on Feb. 24.
William Jessup drops to 12-16 overall.
CSUSM led 36-35 at the break, but William Jessup took control in the early stages of the second stanza, pushing its lead to three.
Camper responded with back-to-back layups to regain the lead for the Cougars, and CSUSM used a 14-3 stretch to extend its lead with 9:39 to play.
Akachi Okugo had 14 points on the night, including a 3-pointer and a dribble-drive to cap the run.
WJU wouldn't go away, though, and the Warriors pulled within four with 2:23 left.
Okugo drove the lane and missed a layup off the front end, but Camper tapped in the rebound.
After a missed shot by the Warriors, Camper responded with another easy lay-in to put CSUSM eight with 1:09 left.
CSUSM went 5-of-9 from behind the arc in the second half.
