ESPANOLA, N.M. – The No. 1 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team responded from last night's loss with a 98-59 victory over Johnson & Wales (Colo.) to wrap up the three-day Northern New Mexico Classic on Saturday afternoon at Eagle Memorial Gymnasium.
CSUSMS improves to 24-3 overall with just two road games at William Jessup (Feb. 19) and Vanguard (Feb. 24) remaining on its regular-season schedule. JWU drops to 1-28 overall.
The Wildcats had earned their first victory of the season yesterday against Bethesda.
Senior point guard
Blake Nash led all Cougar scorers with 19 points and six assists, while
Julian Camper and
Akachi Okugo both pitched in 12 points.
CSUSM shot 53-percent for the game and turned the ball over just six times.
