SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team fell in three straight sets (20-25, 22-25, 16-25) to Cal State L.A. in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Tuesday night at Hunter Gym.
Hitting errors proved to be the deciding factor with CSUSM finishing with 24 to CSULA's 11.
The Cougars fall to 6-20 overall and 3-14 in conference action. The Golden Eagles improve to 17-7, 9-6 CCAA.
CSUSM was led by outside hitters
Taylor DeGraaf and
Brooke Butler, who tallied 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Ashley Kaylor collected 21 digs in the match.
CSULA's Iona Lofrano proved why she leads the CCAA in kills and kills per set, finishing with 16 and a .359 clip.
The Cougars close out their 2015 home schedule on Sunday, Nov. 8 when they host CCAA leader Sonoma State at noon. Prior to the match, there will be a short presentation honoring CSUSM's two seniors;
Taylor DeGraaf and
Jordan Banich.
