LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team lost 2-0 to UC San Diego in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Wednesday night at Triton Soccer Stadium.
The loss drops the Cougars to 3-7-5 overall and 3-5-3 in CCAA play. UCSD improves to 10-5-1 overall, 6-4-1 CCAA.
Two first-half goals from Elisa Martinez and Katie O'Laughlin helped hand UCSD the three points.
The Cougars forced four saves from Triton goalkeeper Kelcie Brodsky.
Jenna Hernandez took three shots while
Sarah Campbell and
Meghan Randig had two.
Allie Jara and
Erica Dory split the game in between the pipes for CSUSM.
The contest marked the first conference competition between the local CCAA schools. The Tritons now lead the all-time series, 1-0-1.
CSUSM wraps up CCAA play on Sunday at Chico State.
