IRVINE, Calif. – Three first-half goals by No. 5 Concordia (Calif.) put the No. 15 Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team in a hole it could not climb out of in the Cougars' 3-0 loss to the Eagles in the NAIA Women's Soccer Game of the Week on Wednesday at CU Soccer Field.
CUI took the lead six minutes in and scored a pair of goals in the final eight minutes of the first half. The Cougars forced three saves in the second frame, but could not find the net.
CSUSM drops to 2-2-1 overall while CUI improves to 6-2.
The Cougars have dropped back-to-back matches against ranked Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) squads since starting the year with wins in two of their first three.
CSUSM welcomes another GSAC opponent, Biola, on Saturday, before hosting Rocky Mountain (Mont.) Sunday. Both matches will be played at the CSUSM Multipurpose Field.
