NAIA Match of the Week – No. 4
No. 5 Concordia (Calif.) (5-2-0, 0-0-0 GSAC) vs No. 15 Cal State San Marcos (2-1-1, 0-0-0 A.I.I.)
Wed., Sept. 17
| 3 p.m. PDT | Eagles Field | Irvine, Calif.
Game Coverage – Provided by Concordia

• A top 15 women's soccer matchup awaits when No. 15 Cal State San Marcos heads to No. 5 Concordia (Calif.) in the NAIA Women's Soccer Match of the Week.
• The Eagles, led by coach Chris Gould, have won four-of-five matches. With a win on Wednesday, Concordia would extend its winning streak to three games.
• The only slip-up in September for the Eagles came on the road at the hands of defending national champion and top-ranked Concordia (Ore.), 2-1, on Sept. 7.
• Cal State San Marcos will be the third ranked team Concordia will line up against so far this season. The Eagles are 0-2 in those contests, with the second loss coming on Aug. 29 to No. 6 Embry-Riddle (Fla.), 4-3.
• September will continue to be a tough test for Concordia, as four-ranked opponents are on the schedule in a nine-game stretch, including three top-18 matches in a row that begins with the Cougars on Wednesday. A Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) home date with No. 18 The Master's (Calif.) awaits on Sept. 24, followed by a road trip to No. 12 Vanguard (Calif.) on Sept. 27.
• Cal State San Marcos enters Friday's game looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss at home to No. 18 the Master's on Sept. 12.
• The Eagles are the Cougars' second-consecutive ranked opponent, and only the second road game so far in 2014. On Sept. 6, Cal State San Marcos defeated NCAA Division II Cal State Dominguez Hills, 2-0.
• Friday's visit to Irvine is the only match away from home Cal State San Marcos will play in a six game stretch, as the team won't hit the road again until an Oct. 4 tilt with NCAA Division III Mills (Calif.).
• Offense has been a struggle so far for the Cougars as the team has not scored more than two goals in any game this year. Concordia has scored three-or-more times in five contests this season.
• Senior forward Amy Young looks to spark the Cal State San Marcos offensive attack. She leads the squad with two scores, including a goal in the win over Cal State Dominguez Hills.
• The Cougars have only registered four hits to the back of the net in four games and looks to avoid being shutout for the third time this season.

Additional Notes from Around NAIA Women's Soccer
(Through games played on Sept. 15, 2014)
• This week is full of Top 25 matchups, as seven contests spanning from Sept. 17-20 pit ranked opponents against each other – one shy of the season-high eight Top 25 games a week ago.
• Top-ranked Concordia (Ore.) continues to march through its opponents in 2014, pulling away from No. 2 Westmont (Calif.) on Sept. 12, 2-1, in a rematch of the 2013 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship.
• With the loss, Westmont is one of two schools to fall from the ranks of the unbeaten in the top 10 of the 2014 Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll. No. 6 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) followed suit by losing Sept. 12 to No. 9 William Carey (Miss.), 2-1.
• No. 7 Davenport (Mich.) sits as the only top-ten team with a perfect record.
• Besides Davenport, only No. 24 Benedictine (Kan.) remains as the last ranked team who is flawless thus far in 2014, as No. 25 Trinity International (Ill.) fell to No. 21 St. Ambrose (Iowa), 2-1, on Sept. 12.
