SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The No. 15 Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team was upset by visiting No. 18 The Master's College, 1-0, on Friday afternoon at Mangrum Soccer Field.
Tara Struiksma provided the game-winner in the fourth minute by hitting a low shot throw a crowded box off a long TMC throw-in. The Mustangs improved to 5-2 overall and avenged their previous loss to the Cougars in the 2013 NAIA Opening Round.
CSUSM (2-1-1) had some success getting into the offensive end, but could not generate much toward goal. The Cougars were held without a threatening shot all afternoon.
The Cougars will head to Irvine to face fifth-ranked Concordia (Calif.) on Wednesday at 3 PM.
