CARLSBAD, Calif. – The No. 24 ranked Cal State San Marcos volleyball team swept Pacific Union, 25-18, 25-16, 25-14, Wednesday at Pacific Ridge School.
"I am really proud of the way we came back after a great practice on Tuesday and accessing ourselves after Monday's match," said head coach
Andrea Leonard. "We had numerous players step up and be aggressive in their roles, not only offensively but defensively.
"We kept our composure and began rebuilding our momentum for the second half of the season."
The Cougars move to 12-5 on the season, while Pacific Union dropped to 5-6.
As a team, CSUSM hit .333 while limiting the Pioneers to a .163 attack percentage.
Senior
Alyssa Hubbard recorded a career high .625 attack percentage (11-1-16) to go with her three digs and two blocks. Junior
Jordan Banich added 10 kills and a .316 attack percentage, while
Cheyenne Richards notched a .444 hitting percentage (9-1-18).
Senior setter
Alyssa Foster tallied 38 assists and two service aces. Sophomore
Taylor Harris collected a team-high nine digs.
Sarah Cusick led Pacific Union with seven kills while Courtney Clark added six.
The Cougars hit the road for almost four weeks beginning with a match-up against San Diego Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 16. First serve is at 7 p.m.
