NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-AthletesCOLUMBUS, Ga. – The Cal State San Marcos softball team had a pair of student-athletes named NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athletes, it was announced Wednesday.
Olivia Lucatuorto and
Amy Hartwell were the student-athletes honored. The pair were among the 297 student-athletes honored from across the country.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
In all, CSUSM has had 22 student-athletes from across its 13 sports named NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athletes in 2013-14.
Lucatuorto, a junior Criminology major, it .310 in 48 starts at second base. She tied for fourth on the team with 32 RBI. She also posted a .971 fielding percentage.
Hartwell is a senior Kinesiology major and appeared in 10 games this season for CSUSM. She scored five runs in 2014.
The Cougars wrapped up their season a couple weeks ago with a 39-9-1 overall mark.
