No. 1 CSUSM Starts NAIA Tournament Run vs. Oklahoma Baptist

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team earned the top overall seed for the 77th Annual Buffalo Funds NAIA Men's Basketball Division I National Championship and will take on Oklahoma Baptist in the First Round.

NAIA Watch Party
Join the Cougar faithful in cheering on the Cougars at the official NAIA Tournament Watch Party on Wednesday, March 19 at 11:15 a.m. in the University Student Union Grand Ballroom. Free pizza will be provided to those in attendance while supplies last! Admission is free for those who'd just like to watch, as well.

Tournament Coverage
NeuLion, the NAIA's official video-streaming company of 17 select NAIA national championship events, will be broadcasting the first 30 games of the Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. A single-game pass is $9.95, or fans can purchase the entire Division I Men's Basketball Pass, which guarantees access to 30 of the 31 games at the tournament. The full tournament pass costs $24.95. The national championship game will be broadcast in high definition on ESPN3.com on March 25 at 5:05 p.m. PST.

Tournament History
The NAIA National Championship is a 32-team, single elimination tournament. The First Round takes place with all 32 teams playing on either Wednesday or Thursday. The 16-team Second Round will take place Friday with the winners advancing to the tournament quarterfinals on Saturday. Sunday is a day off. The national semifinals are on Monday, with the national championship game taking place next Tuesday, March 25.

We're Back!
The Cougars won their first-ever A.I.I. conference championship to receive an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship. The top-seeded Cougars had a first-round bye before narrowly beating West Virginia Tech in the semifinals. In the title game against host Life (Ga.), Bobby Macias scored a career-high 25, De'End Parker and Jason Johnson added 24 points each, and the Cougars pulled away at the end for a 112-95 victory. Parker was named the A.I.I. Tournament Most Outstanding Player; Johnson was named to the A.I.I. All-Tournament Team.

OBU
The Bison were 13-15 heading into the last week of the regular season, but has won six straight, including four in a row to win the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournaement. With 59 wins in the NAIA Tournament, OBU is tied for the most wins all-time with defending national champion Georgetown. Under head coach Doug Tolin, OBU is 12-1 in the First Round.
