No. 1 CSUSM Preps for Postseason with Senior Night Exhibition Win vs. St. Katherine

Box Score OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Malcolm Lemmons scored a game-high 22 points and the No. 1 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team made easy work of St. Katherine College in a 103-75 exhibition victory on Saturday night at MiraCosta College.

The two teams were meeting for the first time as North County San Diego's newest intercollegiate programs. SKC (6-21), located in Encinitas, is playing in its first season and the Cougars (28-1) are in their third.

Nine Cougar seniors were honored for their service to the men's basketball program prior to the contest: Bryan Emanuel, Bobby Macias, Quincy Lawson, Tyree Murray, Jason Johnson, Malcolm Lemmons, De'End Parker, Zack Zaragoza and Adam Eakles.

Lemmons was 8-of-11 from the field and 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Murray chipped in with 16 points and hit four 3-pointers. Eakles was 6-of-7 from the field for 13 points. Parker dished out nine assists.

Lawson registered 14 points and threw down a one-handed tomahawk jam that brought the 360 in attendance to their feet. Zaragoza pulled down 10 boards.

Dante Miller led the Firebirds with 18 points, while Alex Perez and Joshua White each added 13. Jonah Wood had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

CSUSM will turn its focus to next weekend's Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Tournament, March 7-9 in Marietta, Ga. The Cougars will receive an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship in Kansas City, Mo. (March 19-26) if they are able to win the conference postseason tournament.

CSUSM enters the postseason on a 19-game winning streak. The Cougars recently beat No. 10 Vanguard 82-80 on Feb. 27 in the NAIA Game of the Week on Johnson's game-winning layup.
