REDDING, Calif. – A day after narrowly missing out on a double-double,
Wade Collie registered his first of the season, pacing the No. 1 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team with 23 points and 10 rebounds in a 96-66 victory over Simpson in the final game of the Simpson Christmas Classic on Tuesday night.
Collie went 8-of-13 from the floor, including a 4-of-7 clip from behind the 3-point arc, adding four assists in the process. He was one of six Cougars to finish in double figures.
CSUSM improves to 16-2 overall while Simpson drops to 6-10.
Akachi Okugo also hit four 3-pointers and finished with 19 points, a season high.
Blake Nash tallied 14 points, while
Taran Brown,
Julian Camper and
Tyson Kygar finished with 11.
Declan Daly corralled 10 rebounds, six on the offensive end.
CSUSM will open 2015 on Saturday, January 3 at home against The Master's College.
