BERKELEY, Calif. - The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team fell 74-52 to Cal in an exhibition on Thursday night at Haas Pavilion.

Julian Camper led the Cougars with 11 points and eight rebounds, Akachi Okugo contributed 10 points and the Cougars shot a respectable 44.4 percent from behind the arc. Cal held CSUSM to 35.7 percent shooting overall, while converting at a 49.9 percent rate. The Golden Bears used their size inside to outscore the Cougars 36-16 in the paint.

CSUSM kept pace with Cal until midway through the first half, trailing 14-10 with 9:51 remaining. However, the Golden Bears were able put together a 15-2 stretch over the next five minutes to open up a 29-12 advantage with under four minutes remaining.

An 8-0 run from the Cougars made it 29-20, but Cal answered with another 19-3 stretch over the game's next 10 minutes to increase its lead to 48-23 with 13:51 left in regulation.

CSUSM finished strong, going 7-of-10 in its last ten shots of the ball game.

Tyrone Wallace and Jabari Bird led Cal with 13 points each.

CSUSM travels to face Nevada in another exhibition on Saturday at Lawlor Events Center.
