InstagramNAIA Opening RoundCSUSM is making its fourth consecutive and sixth overall appearance in the NAIA Opening Round. CSUSM is 2-3 all-time in the opening round and is 2-5 all-time in the NAIA tournament. If the Cougars are able to get past VU, the team will advance to the 16-team, single-elimination national championship final site, presented by the Sports Medicine Center at the Orthopedic Group, P.C., at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala. CSUSM has made two prior trips to the final site. – in 2013 and 2008.
2013 NAIA Tournament RecapJen Hager scored the game's only goal as the Cougars took down No. 16 The Master's College on the road in the 2013 NAIA Opening Round. CSUSM made just its second-ever trip past the opening round and took on No. 2 Northwood (Fla.) in the quarterfinals I Orange Beach. Unbeaten in 12With their shootout victory over Ashford in the A.I.I. Conference Championship, the Cougars increased their unbeaten streak to 12 matches, a new school record. The previous long was 11 games unbeaten from Sept. 11, 2010 – Oct. 27, 2010.

Dani Porter scored less than two minutes into the first overtime to lift No. 17 CSUSM to an upset of No. 12 Vanguard in Costa Mesa. Shelby Bush also scored in the match. The win came during a six-match unbeaten streak for the '12 Cougars.
UV Breakdown: The Lions won seven of their final eight games of the regular season and finished runner-up to No. 5 Westmont for the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) tournament title. VU is one of four GSAC teams in the tournament. Madison Cody leads VU with 15 goals and 11 assists this season, while Jennifer Martin has contributed 14 goals and six assists.
