All-time vs. CUI: 2-4
Last time out: W, 84-81 (Jan. 10, 2014); CSUSM and CUI met in Irvine for the NAIA Game of the Week while the teams were ranked No. 4 and No. 5 in the country, respectively. The Cougars led by as many as 14 in the second half, but the Eagles cut the lead down to two with 18 seconds left. The Cougars broke CUI's press and Malcolm Lemmons hit three key free throws down the stretch to preserve the victory. Jason Johnson scored a game-high 23 points, while Lemmons finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
CUI Preview: CSUSM went 0-4 in its first four contests against CUI, but bounced back last year with a pair of victories over its local rival. The Eagles have looked strong out of the gate this season, scoring 128 points in their season opener against Redlands before taking down No. 18 Lindenwood-Belleville and No. 15 Westminster over the weekend at the Tip-Off Classic in Las Vegas. CUI also hung tough in a 90-81 exhibition loss to NCAA Division I opponent University of Portland. Stephen Grosey has been the standout player for the Eagles, averaging a double-double with 19.8 PPG and 12.5 RPG.

The Cougars also topped VU 80-64 last season at home on Nov. 23, 2013.
