SAN DIEGO, Calif. – In the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team's first of two exhibition games of the season, senior Heather Thompson registered a double-double with 22 points and 15 rebounds as the Cougars dropped an 82-42 decision to University of San Diego.
 
Senior Mackenzie Harnett recorded six points and freshman Kylie Coppi added five points. 
 
Maya Hood paced the Toreros with 27 points and nine rebounds while Sophia Ederaine also reached double-digits with 21 points.
 
As a team, the Cougars shot 29.5% from the field. USD shot 43.6% and won the battle of the boards, 52-40.
 
Both teams only connected on one three-pointer while each squad tallied five blocked shots.
 
CSUSM (1-2) resumes its regular season play on Friday, Nov. 21 when the Cougars open the Dixie State Thanksgiving Classic against Alaska Fairbanks in St. George, Utah.
