"We had a great night in terms of defense and our outsides really stepped up today with Butler and Hubbard," said head coach
Andrea Leonard. "It is something we have been working on in practice and they applied it tonight."
Senior
Alyssa Hubbard and sophomore
Brooke Butler led the Cougars with 10 kills and only one error apiece. Freshman libero
Samantha Flores tallied 15 digs while senior setter
Alyssa Foster dished out 37 assists.
The Cougars opened the match with a 25-20 win over La Sierra. The Cougars hit a match-low .267 yet held the Golden Eagles to their lowest attack percentage .088 of the night. Senior

"We were able to change a couple of players in our defensive scheme and it resulted in more digs and covering the court better," Leonard said. "Our bench was very strong and we have a total team support and contribution."
