SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The No. 15 Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team fell 2-0 to No. 16 The Master's College in the NAIA Women's Soccer Game of the Week on Saturday afternoon at Reese Field.
CSUSM, which has played five road matches in the last eight days, moves to 4-2-1 on the season after its second straight loss to a Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) opponent. It's the first time since Sept. 7-8, 2008 that the Cougars have dropped consecutive contests.
Elivia Contreras made it 1-0 in the 76th minute and Stephanie Albright added another three minutes later to boost the Mustangs to 8-0 on the season.
The Cougars outshot the Mustangs, 14-11, but could not crack TMC goalkeeper Ilyssa Espiritu, who made eight saves. CSUSM keeper Amanda Sears stopped five shots.
CSUSM hosts its first home match since Aug. 31 against No. 25 Concordia (Calif.) on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Mangrum Soccer Field.
