• No. 16 The Master's (Calif.) hosts No. 15 Cal State San Marcos Saturday in the NAIA Women's Soccer Match of the Week. The Mustangs are one of ten teams left in NAIA women's soccer boasting an unbeaten record, while the Cougars entered the week unblemished, but fell on Thursday.
• Cal State San Marcos owns a 3-2-1 edge in the all-time series.
• When the teams last played, The Master's claimed a 1-0 road victory. Jessica Long was the lone Mustang to find the back of the net when she broke the scoreless match in the 72nd minute.
• Cal State San Marcos is looking to qualify for its third-straight NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship in 2013. The Cougars are 1-4-0 all-time in postseason contests and have not advanced beyond the first round since 2008.
• The Cougars, who opened the year with a three-game win streak during which they outscored their opponent 8-2, have stumbled of late, netting only one goal in its last three matches. That lone score came in their 1-0 victory at San Diego Christian (Calif.) on Tuesday.
• Cal State San Marcos finished the 2012 season with an 11-6-3 overall record and was 4-2-0 in true road matches. The Cougars are 1-1-1 away from home this season.
• Kaleigh Dodson and Paulina Good lead Cal State San Marcos with three goals each.
• The Master's has been one of the surprise teams in the NAIA this season. The Mustangs, who opened the year unranked, climbed to No. 16 in the most recent Coaches' Poll after a 7-0-0 start to the year.
• Cal State San Marcos is the first ranked team The Master's has faced this season.
• In 2012, the Mustangs finished fourth in the Golden State Athletic Conference with a 12-6-4 overall mark and 6-4 record in the league. The Master's lost only two home matches in 2012.
• The Master's ranks amongst the top 10 nationally in goals (27), shots on goal per game (12.29), shutouts (three), goals per game (3.86) and shots per game (21.14).
• Five Mustangs own at least two goals this season with Jordan Benson leading the way with nine – seventh most in the NAIA. She also paces the squad in assists (six), shots (27), shots on goal (17) and game-winning goals (2).
• Illyssa Espiritu owns a 7-0-0 record and 0.710 goals against average in seven starts between the pipes for The Master's.
• Looking ahead, The Master's will have a little more than a week off before opening GSAC action at Biola, while Cal State San Marcos returns to the pitch Sept. 24 against No. 25 Concordia (Calif.).
