The Cougars improve to 3-0 overall on the young season

Box Score

LAS VEGAS – Kaleigh Dodson scored twice and added an assist in the No. 15 Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team's 3-0 win over Great Falls on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars tallied 28 shots and 15 corner kicks while goalkeepers Amanda Sears and Kimi Mendenhall kept the Argos off the score sheet to hand CSUSM its second straight shutout victory. CSUSM improves to 3-0 to start the season.

"I thought we completely controlled the game and really took it to Great Falls today," said head coach Ron Pulvers. "I'm pleased with the progress this team is making. It was really hot out there today and I think we're a little tired, but hopefully we'll be able to recover and play a solid game against Rocky Mountain tomorrow."

Dodson made it 1-0 in the first stanza, driving in a shot across goal that deflected in off a defender. Later in the half, Dodson laid off a pass on the top of the box that Paulina Good drove home low and hard inside the far post to put the Cougars up by a pair.

Good has now scored a goal in all three of CSUSM's contests in 2013.

Dodson added the insurance in the second half by one-timing a left-footed shot inside the left post off a clearance by the Great Falls defense.

The Cougars will conclude play at the invite with a bout against No. 24 Rocky Mountain tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.

Box score will be posted when made available.
