SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team takes the top seed into this weekend's Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Tournament, looking for its first automatic berth to the NAIA national tournament.

Playin' The Field
The Cougars earned the No.1-seed and a bye in the first round of the conference postseason tournament after going 23-5 overall during the 2012-13 regular season campaign. WVU Tech (19-11) earned the No. 2-seed and also received a first-round bye. No. 3-seed Robert Morris (16-13) plays No. 6-seed Allen University (5-24) while No. 4-seed Voorhees (19-11) and No. 5-seed Morris (6-10) will play for the right to face CSUSM in the second round.
A.I.I. Accolades
Four CSUSM players were named to the All-A.I.I. Conference First Team, it was announced by the association on Thursday -
Jose Rivera,
AJ Gasporra,
Quincy Lawson and
Danny Redmon. Redmon is a two-time honoree after being named second team in 2011-12. WVU Tech's David Rawlinson was dubbed the A.I.I. Player of the Year.
State Of The Team
CSUSM enters its postseason tournament a winner in 15 of its last 16 games. The Cougars' only two losses over the last three months of the season were to defending national champion Concordia (Calif.). CSUSM has scored 90 or more points in five of its last seven games.
Coaches' Poll
The Cougars finished the regular season at No. 7 in the final NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll, it was announced in Tuesday. The Cougars dropped a spot from its No. 6 billing the week prior, but it is still the eighth week in a row that the team has been in the top 10. Head coach
