New Year's Cougar Classic
The CSUSM Holiday Classic isn't the only tournament over the holiday break for CSUSM. The Cougars will host the New Year's Cougar Classic, Dec. 27-28 at Sol City SportsCenter at Alliant International University in San Diego. Hope International will play Waldorf in the opening game at 5:30 on Dec. 27, while CSUSM takes on Cardinal Stritch at 7:30 p.m. The consolation game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 28. The championship game tips-off at 7:30 p.m.

CSUSM (9-1)
Received a No. 8 national ranking in the first in-season coaches' poll released last week … Started the year on a nine-game winning streak, the second longest such streak in school history … Set a program record with a 64-point margin of victory over UC Merced on Nov. 30 … De'End Parker's 19.9 PPG is 21^st-best in the country … The Cougars have six games remaining in 2013, all on their home floor.

Trinity Western (8-8)
TWU and CSUSM will meet at the CSUSM Holiday Classic for the second straight year … CSUSM defeated TWU 83-60 in the only other meeting between the teams on Dec. 18, 2012 …  Danny Redmon threw down a huge dunk in that contest … TWU recently split a pair of contests vs. Victoria on Nov. 29 and 30 … Is .500 on the year and 6-6 in its last 12 … TWU is based in Langley, British Columbia and competes in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association.

Westminster (7-4)
The Griffins will enter the tournament on a three-game winning streak after consecutive victories over College of Idaho, Pacific Union and No. 8 Montana Western … CSUSM is 1-1 all-time against WC … The Cougars fell to the Griffins at the Westminster Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 23, 2012 in the last meeting between the two squads … Tallon Robertson leads the Griffins with a 16.3 scoring average, while Blake Skidmore is averaging 15.1 points per game.

Vanguard (8-2)
One of the Lions' two losses on the season came against CSUSM on Nov. 23 at MiraCosta College …VU has won three straight since Nov. 29 … Preston Wynne leads the Lions with 17.8 PPG.

Car Raffle
The Cal State San Marcos Department of Athletics is hosting a 2014 MINI Cooper raffle to raise money for the Cougars' 13 intercollegiate teams.
