CSUSM Cruises in Season Opener

Box Score

LAS VEGAS – The No. 12 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team topped Warner Pacific 87-75 in its season opener on Friday night at Chuck Minker Sports Complex.

Zack Zaragoza and Malcolm Lemmons stood out in the box score with 19 points and 18 points respectively, but CSUSM (1-0) relied on its depth to seal the victory. All 10 players who saw the floor played double-digit minutes. All but one scored.

De'End Parker had a team-high six assists and 14 points. Zaragoza and Lemmons both hit three 3-pointers and were solid at the free-throw stripe. Zaragoza hit all eight of his free shots and Lemmons was 7-of-8.

"We played a good game and looked good offensively. We moved the ball around real well and got open shots, got some big rebounds in the second half and scored off our second shots," said CSUSM assistant coach B.J. Foster.

The Cougars scored 20 points off 15 Warner Pacific turnovers.

CSUSM will play No. 17 Rocky Mountain tomorrow in Las Vegas.
