SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 12 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team has its work cut out for it this Tuesday night, as No. 6 Concordia (Calif.) comes to town looking to deal the Cougars their first loss of the season.

The Week That Was
CSUSM went 2-0 last week, taking down Olivet Nazarene 94-79 and Vanguard 80-64 … De'End Parker scored a season high 28 points in the win over Vanguard and averaged 24.5 points last week … Parker recorded the Cougars' first double-double of the season in the win (28 pts, 10 rebounds) … CSUSM shot 55% as a team last week … Jason Johnson averaged 14.5 points in the two wins …  Cougar forwards Adam Eakles and Quincy Lawson combined to go 12-of-16 (.750) from the floor.

A Walk in the Park..er
Parker has been the catalyst for the Cougars during the early part of the season … He's led CSUSM in scoring in three of its first six games … On Saturday vs. Vanguard, Parker led the Cougars in points (28), rebounds (10) and assists (4) … He currently leads the Cougars in all three of those categories for the season (18.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.5 APG) …  He is shooting 50% (10-of-20) from behind the arc and 51% overall.

CSUSM-Concordia History
CSUSM is 0-4 all-time against Concordia, one of the top NAIA teams in the nation … The Cougars fell to the Eagles twice in 2012-13, 84-79 on Dec. 8, 2012 and 85-78 on February 21, 2013 … The loss on Feb. 21 snapped a 14-game winning streak by the Cougars … Quincy Lawson scored 18 points in the first bout between the teams last year … On Dec. 6, 2011, CSUSM fell 92-88 when CUI was ranked No. 1 in the nation … The Eagles would go on to win the national championship that season.

Concordia (5-1)
The Eagles come into town on a three-game winning streak after consecutive wins over Warner Pacific, Olivet Nazarene and Lewis & Clark College … Donnell Phifer led CUI with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting against LCC … Tim Harris scored 26 points in the win over Olivet Nazarene and is tied for the team lead along with Montreal Harris with a 12.7 PPG scoring average … Tim Harris scored 19 points in CUI's first win over CSUSM last year … CUI is ranked in the NAIA top 10 in turnover margin (10.0), steals per game (13.5), blocks per game (4.667) and total steals (81) … Since 2006, CUI has finished atop the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) standings five times.

UC Merced (1-6)
CSUSM and UCM will play on a neutral floor at Hope International University in Fullerton, Calif. … UCM is an NAIA Division II institution that completes in the California Pacific Conference … UCM's lone win came against Lindenwood-Belleville, 97-93, on Nov. 13 … CSUSM is 2-0 all-time against UCM … In their last meeting on Dec. 28, 2012, the Cougars set then-school records for points and win margin in a 96-59 blowout … Lawson went 7-of-8 for 15 points in that game … George Idehen leads the Bobcats with a 13.7 scoring and 8.1 rebounding average.

The Cal State San Marcos Department of Athletics is hosting a 2014 MINI Cooper raffle to raise money for the Cougars' 13 intercollegiate teams.
