NAIA Tournament Time
The Cougars will be going to the NAIA Opening Round for the third straight season after winning the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Championship on Saturday, 3-1, over Ashford … CSUSM earned the A.I.I.'s automatic berth … CSUSM is 1-4 all-time in the NAIA National Championship … The Cougars fell to Concordia (Ore.) 1-0 in overtime during the 2012 Opening Round … CSUSM's lone NAIA tournament win was its first-ever appearance vs. Benedictine, 2-0, on Nov. 22, 2008 … Saturday will be the fifth time the Cougars have been in the NAIA postseason in its current format.

TMC received the fifth of six at-large berths for the NAIA Opening Round … The Mustangs finished fourth in the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) regular-season standings and fell to Concordia in the GSAC tournament semifinals … TMC went 2-4 against top-25 teams this season … Three players – Jordan Benson (11), Natasha Coyle (11) and Jasmine Benson (10) - have over 10 goals this season for TMC … Illysa Espiritu is giving up less than a goal per game (0.94) … TMC is making just its second appearance in the NAIA tournament and first since 2010, when the Mustangs won a match before being eliminated in the second round.
