Box Score OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Quincy Lawson scored 18 points and
Jacob Ranger registered his first double-double of the season as the No. 8 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team pummeled visiting La Sierra 111-71 in Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) play on Thursday night at MiraCosta College.
Lawson finished 9-of-13 from the field while Ranger added 15 points and 10 boards, helping CSUSM (19-4) break the 100-point threshold for the first time in program history, and more importantly, igniting the team for its 11
th-straight victory.
CSUSM has also won 14 of its last 15.
Six Cougars in all finished in double figures, including
AJ Gasporra (17),
Adam Alfaro (15),
Jose Rivera (12) and
Hakeem Washington (11). Alfaro went 5-of-8 from behind the arc, including a spree of four 3-pointers in a row midway through the second half.
The Cougars shot 52 percent as a team, contributed 26 assists on 39 made baskets, and forced 21 turnovers while holding La Sierra (4-21) to 33 percent from the floor.
Point guard
Danny Redmon finished with nine assists.
CSUSM matches its win total from a year ago, when the Cougars finished 19-12 overall.
