The Cal State San Marcos Men's Basketball team got off to a quick start Thursday against The Master's College, running out to a 23 point halftime lead and never looking back. The victory will likely catch the eyes of the NAIA poll voters, as the Master's was ranked 10th just 2 weeks ago.

The visiting Mustangs won the opening tip and scored a quick bucket, but the Cougars roared back with a 19-2 run that gave them a 15 point lead just 7 minutes into the game. The Cougars had scored 30 points in the first 9:40, putting them on pace for 125 before slowing down the pace of the game to ensure that the Master's would not crawl back.

One of the keys for the Cougars Thursday was their efficiency. They turned the ball over just twice in the first half, and handed out 20 assists while committing 8 turnovers for the game. CSUSM shot the ball at just under 59%, a number that will win most games.

Jacob Ranger was nearly unstoppable in the first half, hitting 5 of 8 shots and 4 3-pointers to chip in 15 points off the bench. Ranger finshed a game-high 21 points in just 22 minutes.

Point Guard Daniel Redmon also had himself quite a game, notching 8 points and 8 assists before the break. He would up 1 point shy of a double-double, as he played only a few minutes in the second half. Alpha Ndiaye added 9 points and 9 rebounds in just 15 minutes, and freshman Korey Anderson reached double figures in scoring for the first time, scoring 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting.

CSUSM (17-10) will face #11 Concordia (CA) next Thursday, and play their final regular season and home game next Saturday against Black Hills State (SD) at 7:30 pm.
