The Cal State San Marcos Men's Basketball team rolled to their 6
th straight victory Thursday night, defeating the UC Merced Bobcats 77-62 on their home floor. There just has been no stopping the Cougars as of late.
San Marcos had defeated their 5 previous opponents by an average of 16.8 points, and the Cougars showed no restraint in roaring out to a 41-24 halftime lead on the Bobcats. CSUSM shot over 56% in the first half, and held UC Merced to only 28% shooting.
Though the second half was more closely contested, the game was never in question and the Cougars won easily by 15 points. 5 players scored in double-figures for San Marcos, led by AJ Chamberlain's 16 points. This was the 11
th game in a row that Chamberlain has scored at least 11 points.
Point Guard Daniel Redmon also had a nice game for the Cougars, notching 14 points and a game-high 7 assists.
Jamel McGuire added 15 for the Cougars, and
Jacob Ranger and
Alpha Ndiaye scored 13 and 11, respectively.
CSUSM is now 11-7 on the season, and UC Merced drops to 1-6. The Cougars next game is Thursday, January 12th at William Jessup.
