The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team, playing their first home game in a month, put on a show for the fans in Oceanside Saturday night, rolling to a 92-66 victory over La Sierra.

After giving up the first 4 points of the game, CSUSM stormed back with 13 straight points, highlighted by a rim-rattling dunk by Alpha Ndiaye that gave them their first lead. San Marcos held a double-digit advantage just 7 minutes into the game.

The Cougars led 50-30 at the break, and did not let up in the second half, extending their lead to as much as 34 points at one point. The visiting Golden Eagles struggled to get good shots all night, as the Cougars played lockdown defense throughout, holding La Sierra to just 39% from the field. Kenneth Penn led La Sierra with game-highs of 27 points and 18 rebounds.

The Cougars moved the ball at will against the Golden Eagles, shooting over 58% and spread the ball well all evening. Every CSUSM player who dressed had a basket, and 5 different Cougars scored 10 or more points.

Tim Steed led the Cougars with 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, and set the tone on defense with 4 blocks and 3 steals. AJ Chamberlain added 18 points, and Alpha Ndiaye had a team-high 8 rebounds.

The Cougars, now 13-9, will look to knock off #7 Azusa Pacific next week, as they travel north on Thursday, January 26th. The next CSUSM home game will be the following Thursday, February 2nd against Fresno Pacific.
